Peptides, explained simply.

No jargon, no hype — just the basics of what peptides are, why they're studied, and what the labels on the bottle actually mean.

What are peptides?

Peptides are tiny chains of amino acids — the building blocks that make up proteins in your body.

Instead of thinking of them as something complicated, think of peptides as little messengers. They help send signals that tell your body what to do.

Different peptides can send different messages.

Some are being studied for areas such as recovery, metabolism, muscle maintenance, skin health, performance, and weight management.

The important thing to know is that peptides aren't all the same. "Peptide" is a broad category, just like saying "vitamins." There are many different types, and each one works differently.

That's why you'll often hear people discussing specific peptides rather than peptides as a whole.

Interest in peptides has grown because researchers continue to study how these natural signaling molecules interact with the body.

At the end of the day, peptides are simply one of the ways your body communicates with itself.

As with any wellness topic, it's important to do your own research and get more information.

Why are they labelled "Research Use Only"?

You'll often see some peptides labelled "Research Use Only" because they have not been approved for general consumer use in that specific form — or not yet FDA approved.

The label means the product is intended for laboratory research and scientific investigation rather than being marketed as a medicine, supplement, or treatment.

In many cases, companies use this label because regulations limit how certain compounds can be advertised, sold, or discussed.

It's important to remember that "Research Use Only" doesn't automatically tell you whether something is effective, ineffective, safe, or unsafe. It simply describes how the product is being marketed and regulated.

That's why it's always important to understand what a product is, where it comes from, and what evidence exists behind it.
